In general, people need 8 hours of sleep a day to keep their bodies fit. What happens if you sleep less than 8 hours a day? The head feels dizzy, the body feels sore and you have trouble concentrating. If this happens often, you may be experiencing insomnia.

Insomnia is a disorder that causes sufferers to have difficulty falling asleep even though there is sufficient time available for them to sleep. Sufferers of insomnia may experience insomnia as something that is long-term or may experience it for just a short time in their lives. Apart from being caused by certain medical conditions, insomnia can also be caused by:

1. Bad lifestyle

Irregular sleep schedule, the habit of staying up late, and drinking coffee at night.

2. Physical health and condition

If the body is too tired or is experiencing health problems such as coughing, it can keep you up all night due to uncomfortable physical conditions.

3. Stress and mental health

A number of researchers believe that people who experience prolonged stress are very susceptible to experiencing insomnia.

Difficulty sleeping can make insomniacs lack concentration so they are at risk of having an accident while driving. Insomnia can also reduce memory and sex drive, and cause physical and mental disorders.

How to handle it?

- Don’t play on your phone before going to bed

By focusing on your device even though the body already feels tired, your mind does not rest. You will be busy playing on the device until late at night which makes your mind overwhelmed.

- Eliminate the habit of napping

Because you can't sleep at night, you may try to replace it with sleeping during the day. If this habit of napping is keep happening, you will continue to experience this reverse cycle. One way to change that is by not taking naps anymore.

- Eliminate the habit of staying up late

Once or twice, staying up late is not a problem. But don't do it as a habit.

- Don’t drink coffee before bedtime

The caffeine contained in coffee is a substance that can increase and stimulate the work of the central nervous system. If it is consumed, caffeine can make it difficult for you to sleep.

- Create a comfortable room atmosphere

Prepare the room so that it is in a clean and tidy condition. Try giving aromatherapy a go, pick an aroma that makes you relaxed, and don't forget to turn off the lights.

Let us be free from insomnia by trying the tips above. Good luck!
